We did it! Thanks to your support, CRAG-VT purchased the Upper West Bolton cliff this past spring. With your membership and grants from the Access Fund and The Conservation Alliance, we were able to permanently protect a total of 18 acres including the cliff’s rock faces, hilltop summit, hiking trails, and boulder field. Upper West becomes the third climbing area to be acquired and protected forever by local climbers like you – thanks again!
But our work is not done: for every project we complete, there are more on the horizon. In 2010, CRAG-VT will work with the Vermont Land Trust to enact a conservation and recreation easement on Upper and Lower West Bolton cliffs. This will ensure that climbing will be protected regardless of who owns these properties in the future. We are also in the early stages of another cliff acquisition. Through a minor boundary adjustment, we hope to acquire the Carcass Crag – a steep cliff adjacent to the Bolton Quarry with many great climbs including the Bolton classic Who’s your Daddy.
