CRAG-VT Access and Acquisitions Committee

One of the primary goals of CRAG-VT is to maintain or improve access to local crags.  This is achieved through a number of means including conservation easements, negotiations and even outright purchase of certain crags.

The Access and Acquisitions committee seeks to be proactive in addressing access concerns before they arise through education, negotiation or acquisition.  The committee also looks to the future to preserve our unique local climbing resources.

Accomplishments

  • Acquisition of Lower West Bolton Crag
  • Acquisition of the Quarry Property
  • Worked with the State of Vermont to establish a use plan for Smuggler’s Notch
  •  Assisted in Developing Long Range Plans for Willoughby State Forest

Current Projects

  • Investigation of the preservation of Upper West Bolton Crag
  • Maintenance of climbing access to Smuggler’s Notch
